Using these worksheets in teaching

Division is the last of the four operations to become fluent, and the written method is usually taught before the idea underneath it is secure — which is why a child who can chant the steps still cannot say what the remainder means. Start with exact divisions so the method itself is the only new thing, then allow remainders and, for the first few sheets, ask what the remainder is in the story: three left over from sharing 345 marbles between six children is three marbles nobody gets, and that sentence is worth more than a page of correct answers. Watch for the two classic errors. A quotient that is missing a digit — 5 7 written as 57 when the tens digit divided to zero — comes from skipping a step rather than writing the zero, and it is caught by counting the digits above the bracket against the digits under it. Multiplying instead of subtracting inside the algorithm is the other, and it is caught by estimating first: 345 ÷ 6 is somewhere near 350 ÷ 7, so an answer near 50 is plausible and an answer near 500 is not.

What does “no remainders” actually do?
It builds every question as a multiple of its divisor rather than drawing at random and hoping: the dividend is constructed as quotient × divisor, so every question on the sheet divides exactly. Nothing is filtered out afterwards, which is why the sheet is never short of questions.
What are the divisors?
A single digit from 2 to 9. Dividing by 1 has no written method to practise, and two-digit divisors need a printed table of multiples beside the bracket to be teachable — that is a different sheet rather than a wider setting here.
Can I switch to long multiplication?
Yes — the Method selector at the top of the settings swaps the sheet to long multiplication without leaving the page, and the long multiplication page has the same selector back. Both print from the same generator, so a shared link opens on whichever method it was saved with.
How is the remainder written?
As “r” and the remainder after the quotient: 345 ÷ 6 = 57 r 3. Exact divisions print no remainder at all rather than “r 0”, which is what a child writes.
