Using these worksheets in teaching

Consistent letter size is easier to learn when the paper does the measuring: the dashed midline shows exactly how tall a lowercase letter should be, and the space under the baseline shows where descenders belong. Start with wide 12 mm ruling and drop a size once a child keeps letters on the baseline without prompting. Plain lined paper is the natural next step, and printing a fresh sheet costs nothing, so handwriting practice never waits for a workbook.

Frequently asked questions

What do the three lines mean?

The dashed midline marks the height of lowercase letters such as a, c and o. The solid top line marks capitals and ascenders, and the solid baseline is where letters sit. The space below the baseline is for descenders.

Which line height should I choose?

12 mm suits early writers who are still forming letters, 8 mm suits middle primary once letters are consistent, and 6 mm suits upper primary moving towards normal exercise-book ruling.

Can I print plain lined paper instead?

Yes. Switch the paper type to lined and choose 8 mm, 10 mm or 12 mm spacing for narrow, medium or wide ruling.

How many pages can I print at once?

Up to ten identical pages in a single PDF, so you can print a set for the whole week without regenerating.

Which paper sizes are supported?
